Where there’s waste, there’s a better way.

Reuse isn’t simply stopping single-use, it’s taking treasure out of the trash.

From reupholstering furniture, to remixing paint and saving food that is too good to go, explore social enterprises, hacks and apps that’ll save you money and stop needless waste.

LIFE HACK

LIFE HACK

Too Good To Go is a fantastic money-saving hack.

Simply sign up, see what’s available near your location and save surplus groceries from your local shop or surprise bags from your favourite cafes and restaurants.

You can filter by the categories, veggie options and the collection time that works best for you.

Along each step of the way, food production generates greenhouse gas emissions, adding up to a staggering 10% of all emissions globally.  In 2020, restaurants, food services, retail and distribution accounted for 31% of Ireland’s 770,300 tonnes of food waste

So by rescuing magic bags with Too Good To Go, you not only save money but also CO2 emissions. It also saves businesses - who currently waste over €300 million food each year, so it’s no wonder that surprise bags on the app are given away at reduced rates.

How to reuse paint

Did you know you can donate and reuse paint?
Find out how to donate, find, and buy reused paint in Ireland.

  • The Paint Reuse Network works with 12 civic amenity sites around the country. Find the full list on their website, and head on down. Donating to these sites ensures that the usable water based paint will be reused, instead of being exported for incineration.

  • The Paint Reuse Network gathers the discarded or donated paint, cleans it, remixes to create its own variety of colours, and sells it across the country (including at The Rediscovery Centre). You can also order a custom colour, specific for your project. Visit the Paint Reuse Network to discover your nearest outlet.
